Healthcare advice at your pharmacy

As an AXA customer with supplemental ACTIF, PLUS or COMPLET outpatient insurance , you can benefit from our extensive range of healthcare solutions offered in collaboration with Galenica. “Pharmacies – Healthcare Advice” includes consultations, check-ups, immunizations and more. We will help cover the cost of these services available to you at over 300 Galenica pharmacies, such as Sun StoreAmavita and Coop Vitality (in German).

Here’s how it works:

For medical conditions such as conjunctivitis or bladder infections, you do not necessarily have to contact your general practitioner or Telmed. A Galenica Pharmacy can also assist you. Here are the three steps to getting healthcare advice from a pharmacy:

  1. Walk-ins are welcome at over 300 pharmacies or you can set up an appointment. The extended business hours let you make an appointment during off-peak hours, such as after work.
  2. Experienced pharmacists are ready to listen to your problem and provide you with personalized advice.
  3. Based on your discussion, the pharmacist can offer you preventive check-ups and will assist you if your case is serious. If necessary, you can also get your prescription drugs without a prescription from a doctor.

And the best part? AXA pays for part of it. The following benefits are covered for AXA customers with supplemental outpatient insurance:

FAQ for Pharmacies – Healthcare Advice

  • What medical conditions can a pharmacist help you with?

Your pharmacist can help you identify and treat a large number of complaints and issues that would normally require a doctor visit. This includes conditions such as bladder infections, conjunctivitis and sore throat, as well as vaccinations and minor injuries. They can help you choose the right medicine and they will explain any possible side effects and interactions. But if you are extremely ill or have been sick for quite some time, then you should see your doctor.

  • Where is the nearest in-network pharmacy?

The following pharmacies are part of the Galenica network:

  • Why is it a good idea to go to your pharmacist first?

There are several reasons why you should see your pharmacist first:

    • Cost of visit to doctor vs. pharmacist: Oftentimes a visit to your pharmacist is a much more affordable solution than a doctor visit.
    • Competence due to years of training: Pharmacists have a thorough college education, which includes extensive experience and in-depth knowledge. They can draw on this background to provide qualified advice and support.
    • Longer business hours and shorter wait times: Pharmacies are open longer hours than most businesses so you can visit when you have time. And wait times are generally shorter, which means you get help quicker when you really need it.
