AXA is to be the first partner in the history of Switzerland's top women's league. In the league's 50th anniversary year, Switzerland's leading insurance company is to partner with the National League A and Swiss women's cup final for two years as of 1 July 2020. The National League A will therefore be renamed the "AXA Women’s Super League" from the coming season, and the deciding game for the cup will be known as the "AXA Women’s Cup Final".
The Swiss Football Association (SFV) and AXA have a shared vision: to take Swiss women's football to the next level. Together they want to ensure that women in football – and in sport in general – receive the recognition they deserve. After the appointment of Tatjana Haenni as Head of Women's Football and a member of the SFV Executive Committee, the partnership with AXA is another key step towards targeted, long-term support for Swiss women's football – in terms of both funding and the media.
According to Tatjana Haenni: "AXA's commitment to the Swiss elite league supports and confirms the SFV's vision of positioning women's football and women in football as a full, integral part of the sport in Switzerland with a great deal of growth potential". Chairman Dominique Blanc said of AXA's commitment: "We are delighted that an innovative, highly motivated partner such as AXA has decided to join us on this journey".
"AXA is proud to be the first partner in the history of Switzerland's top women's league", says Antonia Lepore, Head of Marketing Communication at AXA. "As a partner of the national women's league, we will contribute our great motivation and passion, support the players above and beyond the sporting arena, and enable them to fully achieve their potential. All in the spirit of our brand promise "Know You Can", with which we also encourage our customers to believe in themselves", she adds.
Together with the SFV, AXA will develop ways of increasing the league's popularity and raising awareness of the extraordinary achievements of the players and everyone else who works day in, day out for the clubs and the league. To provide the players with the best possible support, AXA and the SFV will work closely together and continually develop the partnership.
The first joint appearance is likely to be during the opening game of the AXA Women’s Super League 2020/2021 on Thursday, August 13, 2020.
